Director's Vision

I'm interested in how we think about, feel with, live [inside] "the body". We need to develop new concepts of/for this thing/us/you/me. How do we produce it & how do we read it? How do we make sense of it? What does it mean?

A Yellow Brick Road

ProdStill3.jpg

A theatre company, (deciding to add a little spice to their traditional productions) contracted non-traditional casting companies to put on a gender-bending version of the  play "The Wizard of Oz". Backstage before the performance, Glinda, a young pre-operative transsexual queer theorist dresses for her role and argues with the stage manager who insists she mark "Male" or "Female" on the payment form.  Soon after, Glinda finds a friend in Maggie, who she assumes to be Glinda's under-study and another pre-operative transsexual like herself.  In actuality, Maggie is a female little person who is assigned the role of "Munchkin #7" and a barrier between herself and Glinda fosters humorous, but bittersweet miscommunication.
